alpha Synuclein Antibody (YA5072) is a Mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to alpha Synuclein.

Synuclein-α is a neuronal protein that plays multiple roles in synaptic activity, including regulating synaptic vesicle trafficking and subsequent neurotransmitter release. It participates in synaptic vesicle exocytosis as a monomer by enhancing vesicle priming, fusion, and dilation of exocytotic fusion pores (by similar). Mechanistically, it increases local Ca²⁺ release from microdomains, which is essential for enhancing ATP-induced exocytosis. Additionally, in its multimeric membrane-bound state, Synuclein-α acts as a molecular chaperone, assisting in the folding of synaptic fusion components SNAREs (Soluble NSF Attachment Protein REceptors) at the presynaptic plasma membrane in conjunction with cysteine string protein-alpha/DNAJC5. This chaperone activity is crucial for sustaining normal SNARE-complex assembly during aging. It also associates with the dopamine transporter DAT1, modulating its activity and thereby playing a role in regulating dopamine neurotransmission.
