Somatostatin Antibody (YA5675) is a Mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG2a monoclonal antibody, targeting to Somatostatin.

Somatostatin is a peptide that inhibits the secretion of pituitary hormones, including growth hormone (GH1), prolactin (PRL), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). It impairs ghrelin- and GnRH-stimulated secretion of GH1 and LH, with this inhibition potentially enhanced by neuronostatin. In pancreatic alpha cells, it may enhance low-glucose-induced glucagon release by binding to GPR107 and activating PKA (By similarity). Additionally, it may regulate cardiac contractile function (By similarity), compromise cardiomyocyte viability (By similarity), impair memory retention and hippocampal excitability in the central nervous system (By similarity), and exhibit anxiolytic and anorexigenic effects (By similarity). It may also play a role in arterial pressure regulation (By similarity). Notably, it selectively inhibits basal GH1 and LH secretion without affecting PRL, ACTH, FSH, or TSH release, and potentiates somatostatin's inhibitory action on ghrelin-stimulated GH1 secretion but not on GnRH-stimulated LH secretion.
