SLC27A2 Antibody (YA3518) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to SLC27A2. It can be applicated for IHC-P, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

SLC27A2 mediates the transport of long-chain fatty acids (LCFA) across cell membranes, playing a key role in hepatic fatty acid uptake. It also functions as an acyl-CoA ligase, catalyzing the ATP-dependent formation of fatty acyl-CoA from LCFA and very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA), thereby preventing fatty acid efflux and potentially driving further uptake. This protein is crucial for regulating exogenous LCFA substrates in tissues with high beta-oxidation or triglyceride synthesis activity. Additionally, it activates branched-chain fatty acids like phytanic acid and pristanic acid, and may contribute to sphingosine-1-phosphate synthesis. Notably, it does not activate C24 bile acids, cholate, or chenodeoxycholate. In vitro, it activates 3-alpha,7-alpha,12-alpha-trihydroxy-5-beta-cholestanate (THCA), though in vivo studies show it is not essential for THCA activation or bile acid synthesis. by similar: SLC27A2 exhibits a preference for generating CoA derivatives of n-3 fatty acids, which are preferentially incorporated into phosphatidylinositol.
