CD100 is a cell surface receptor that binds to PLXNB1 and PLXNB2, playing a crucial role in cell-cell signaling. It promotes the development of inhibitory synapses in a PLXNB1-dependent manner (by similar) and regulates GABAergic synapse formation (by similar). Additionally, CD100 modulates the complexity and arborization of developing neurites in hippocampal neurons by activating PLXNB1, with its interaction mediating RHOA activation. It facilitates cerebellar granule cell migration and functions in the immune system by inducing B-cell aggregation and enhancing viability (in vitro). Furthermore, CD100 triggers endothelial cell migration through activation of the PTK2B/PYK2, SRC, and PI3K-AKT pathway.
