Description

RBPJK Antibody (YA099) is a Rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to RBPJK.

Background

RBPJK is a transcriptional regulator that plays a central role in the Notch signaling pathway, which mediates cell-cell communication and regulates diverse cell-fate decisions. It functions as a transcriptional repressor when not bound to Notch proteins, but acts as a transcriptional activator upon association with the Notch intracellular domain (NICD), promoting the expression of Notch target genes. Its repressive or activating effects are likely mediated by recruiting chromatin remodeling complexes containing histone deacetylases or histone acetylases, respectively. RBPJK specifically binds to the immunoglobulin kappa-type J segment recombination signal sequence and methylated DNA. Under hypoxic conditions (4% oxygen), it binds to the oxygen-responsive element of COX4I2 and activates its transcription. Additionally, it negatively regulates the phagocyte oxidative burst during bacterial infection by repressing the transcription of NADPH oxidase subunits (by similarity).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
