RAB4A is a small GTPase belonging to the Rab family, serving as a key regulator of intracellular membrane trafficking. It cycles between an inactive GDP-bound state and an active GTP-bound state, recruiting downstream effector proteins to directly facilitate vesicle formation, movement, tethering, and fusion. RAB4A is involved in protein transport and vesicular traffic, mediating VEGFR2 endosomal trafficking to enhance its signaling. Additionally, it regulates platelet alpha-granule release during platelet activation and aggregation (by similar).
