Description

PKA C-alpha Antibody (YA6154) is a rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to PRKACA. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, ICC/IF, IP, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse, rat.

Background

PRKACA is a protein kinase that phosphorylates a large number of substrates in the cytoplasm and nucleus, including CDC25B, ABL1, NFKB1, CLDN3, PSMC5/RPT6, PJA2, RYR2, RORA, SOX9, and VASP. It regulates the abundance of its regulatory subunits by phosphorylating PJA2, leading to their ubiquitination and subsequent proteolysis. PRKACA is involved in glucose-mediated adipogenic differentiation and inhibition of osteogenic differentiation in osteoblasts. In chondrogenesis, it mediates phosphorylation of SOX9 (by similarity). PRKACA plays a role in platelet regulation by phosphorylating VASP to promote platelet aggregation. It also modulates calcium release by phosphorylating RYR2 and activates the proteasome via phosphorylation of PSMC5/RPT6. In ovarian cancer cells, PRKACA negatively regulates tight junctions through CLDN3 phosphorylation. Additionally, it inhibits the Hedgehog signaling pathway by phosphorylating GLI transcription factors (by similarity). In sperm flagella, PRKACA phosphorylates and activates ABL1 to promote sperm capacitation.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
