Description	PIAS2 Antibody (YA2730) is a rabbit-derived non-conjugated IgG antibody (Clone NO.: YA2730), targeting PIAS2, with a predicted molecular weight of 68 kDa (observed band size: 55 kDa). PIAS2 Antibody (YA2730) can be used for WB, ICC/IF experiment in human, mouse, rat background.
Background	PIAS2 functions as an E3-type small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) ligase, stabilizing the interaction between UBE2I and the substrate, and serves as a SUMO-tethering factor. It acts as a crucial transcriptional coregulator in various cellular pathways, including the STAT pathway, the p53 pathway, and the steroid hormone signaling pathway. The transcriptional coregulation effects (transactivation or silencing) may vary depending on the biological context and the PIAS2 isoform studied, though it is primarily involved in gene silencing. PIAS2 binds to sumoylated ELK1 and enhances its transcriptional activity by preventing HDAC2 recruitment by ELK1, thereby reversing SUMO-mediated repression of ELK1 transactivation. The PIAS2-beta isoform (but not PIAS2-alpha) promotes MDM2 sumoylation. PIAS2-alpha promotes PARK7 sumoylation. PIAS2-beta more efficiently promotes NCOA2 sumoylation than PIAS2-alpha. PIAS2-alpha sumoylates PML at 'Lys-65' and 'Lys-160'.
