Description

MSX1 Antibody (YA3931) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to MSX1. It can be applicated for WB, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

MSX1 functions as a transcriptional repressor (By similarity) capable of autoinactivating its own transcription (By similarity). It binds to the consensus sequence 5'-C/GTAAT-3' within downstream activin regulatory elements (DARE) of gene promoters to repress transcription of CGA/alpha-GSU and GNRHR (By similarity). It also represses myoblast differentiation factors (By similarity), with binding specificity to core enhancer regions of target genes facilitated by PIAS1 interaction (By similarity). During tooth development, MSX1 regulates a stage-specific gene expression program controlling odontoblast differentiation and dental mesenchymal cell proliferation (By similarity). At the bud stage, it mediates reciprocal epithelial-mesenchymal signaling for molar tooth bud development (By similarity) and potentially modulates Wnt antagonists like DKK2 and SFPR2 (By similarity). MSX1 is essential for BMP4 expression in dental mesenchyme (By similarity) and propagates BMP4 expression to neighboring epithelium upon BMP4 stimulation (By similarity). Similarly, it enables maximal FGF4-induced SDC1 expression in mesenchyme (By similarity) and mediates SDC1 expression in adjacent epithelium (By similarity). During early bell stage, MSX1 drives mesenchymal proliferation but later acts as a cell cycle homeostatic regulator (By similarity). It inhibits premature odontogenesis via suppressing Wnt/CTNNB1 signaling and downstream differentiation factors (BMP2/4, LEF1, ALPL, BGLAP/OCN) (By similarity). Additionally, MSX1 is critical for palatal shelf fusion, mandibular formation (By similarity), middle ear/skull/nasal bone embryogenesis (By similarity), nail plate morphogenesis (By similarity), and potentially limb patterning (By similarity).
