Description

MMP3 Antibody (YA6247) is a rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to MMP3. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, ICC/IF, IP, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse, rat.

Background

MMP3 is a metalloproteinase with broad substrate specificity, capable of degrading fibronectin, laminin, gelatins of types I, III, IV, and V, as well as collagens III, IV, X, and IX, and cartilage proteoglycans. It activates various molecules, including growth factors, plasminogen, or other matrix metalloproteinases such as MMP9. Once released into the extracellular matrix (ECM), the inactive pro-enzyme is activated by the plasmin cascade signaling pathway. MMP3 also functions intracellularly—for example, in dopaminergic neurons, it is activated by the serine protease HTRA2 under stress and plays a pivotal role in DA neuronal degeneration by mediating microglial activation and alpha-synuclein/SNCA cleavage. Additionally, it contributes to immune responses and exhibits antiviral activity against viruses like vesicular stomatitis virus, influenza A virus (H1N1), and human herpes virus 1. Mechanistically, upon viral infection, it translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus to modulate NF-kappa-B activities.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
