Methionine Aminopeptidase 2 Antibody (YA296) is a Rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to Methionine Aminopeptidase 2.
Background

Methionine Aminopeptidase 2 (METAP2) is a cotranslational enzyme that removes the N-terminal methionine from nascent proteins. The N-terminal methionine is typically cleaved when the second residue in the sequence is small and uncharged (e.g., Ala, Cys, Gly, Pro, Ser, Thr, or Val). Human METAP2 exhibits catalytic activity toward Met-Val peptides that is consistently two orders of magnitude higher than that of METAP1, indicating its primary role in processing proteins with N-terminal Met-Val and Met-Thr sequences in vivo. Additionally, METAP2 protects eukaryotic initiation factor EIF2S1 from translation-inhibiting phosphorylation by inhibitory kinases such as EIF2AK2/PKR and EIF2AK1/HCR, playing a critical role in regulating protein synthesis.
