Description

MEF2C Antibody (YA4192) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to MEF2C. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse, rat, rabbit, monkey.

Background

MEF2C is a transcription activator that specifically binds to the MEF2 element found in the regulatory regions of many muscle-specific genes. It controls cardiac morphogenesis and myogenesis and is involved in vascular development. MEF2C enhances transcriptional activation mediated by SOX18 and plays a vital role in hippocampal-dependent learning and memory by suppressing excitatory synapse numbers, thereby regulating basal and evoked synaptic transmission. It is crucial for normal neuronal development, distribution, and electrical activity in the neocortex and is necessary for the proper development of megakaryocytes, platelets, and bone marrow B-lymphopoiesis. MEF2C is also required for B-cell survival and proliferation in response to BCR stimulation, efficient IgG1 antibody responses to T-cell-dependent antigens, and normal induction of germinal center B-cells. By similarity, it may also contribute to neurogenesis and cortical architecture development. Isoforms lacking the repressor domain exhibit higher activity than isoform 1.
