Description

Mammaglobin Antibody (YA5731) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 monoclonal antibody, targeting to Mammaglobin. It can be applicated for IHC-P, ICC/IF, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

Mammaglobin is a gene sequence fragment initially isolated by Watson and Fleming, expressed in 50% of primary breast carcinomas and 62% of metastatic breast carcinomas, with 56% detection in tissue sections. It is also found in other tumors like endometrial adenocarcinomas, salivary gland carcinomas, and endocervical carcinomas in situ. While extensively studied in tissues, its cytologic application remains limited; one study reported 55% expression in metastatic breast carcinoma pleural effusions. Notably, mammaglobin and GCDFP-15 share similar sensitivities/specificities, prompting clinical recommendations for combined use to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Recognized for mammary specificity, mammaglobin has been explored as a breast cancer diagnostic marker for a decade, particularly via RT-PCR to detect disseminated tumor cells in lymph nodes, blood, and bone marrow (supported by >25 studies). Recent structural insights into the mammaglobin complex (a uteroglobin family member homologous to rat prostatein C, pig pheromaxein C, etc.) may optimize protein detection. The translated 93-amino-acid polypeptide (MW 10,498) includes a cleaved 19-residue leader sequence.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
