Description

LKB1 Antibody (YA4952) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to LKB1. It can be applicated for WB, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse, monkey.

Background

LKB1 is a tumor suppressor serine/threonine-protein kinase that regulates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) family members, playing pivotal roles in cell metabolism, polarity, apoptosis, and DNA damage response. It activates AMPK family proteins (e.g., PRKAA1, PRKAA2, BRSK1, BRSK2) via T-loop phosphorylation and also targets non-AMPK proteins like STRADA, PTEN, and potentially p53/TP53. As a master upstream regulator of AMPK, LKB1 phosphorylates PRKAA1/PRKAA2 to inhibit growth signaling under energy stress, maintain hepatic glucose homeostasis, induce nutrient-deprivation autophagy, and mediate germinal center B-cell differentiation. In cell polarity, LKB1 remodels the actin cytoskeleton by activating BRSK1/BRSK2 for axon initiation in cortical neurons. During DNA damage response, LKB1 interacts with p53/TP53 at the CDKN1A/WAF1 promoter for transcriptional activation and may indirectly phosphorylate p53 via NUAK1. Collaborating with NUAK1, LKB1 phosphorylates CDKN1A post-UV radiation to facilitate its degradation for efficient DNA repair. It also mediates p53-dependent apoptosis through mitochondrial translocation and participates in spermiogenesis.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
