Description

KCNQ1 Antibody (YA4075) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG2b antibody, targeting to KCNQ1. It can be applicated for WB, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

KCNQ1 is the pore-forming subunit of the voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channel, regulating cardiomyocyte excitability and playing a critical role in the normal development and function of the myocardium, inner ear, stomach, and colon. It associates with KCNE beta subunits to modulate current kinetics, inducing a voltage-dependent current characterized by rapid activation and slow deactivation of potassium-selective outward currents. During beta-adrenergic receptor stimulation, KCNQ1 forms the I(Ks) cardiac potassium current with KCNE1, increasing amplitude and slowing activation kinetics of outward potassium current I(Ks) (By similarity). When associated with KCNE3, it forms a potassium channel essential for cAMP-stimulated chloride ion secretion in the intestine (By similarity). With KCNE2, it forms a heterooligomer complex exhibiting instantaneous activation, rapid deactivation, and a linear current-voltage relationship while reducing outward current amplitude. Interaction with KCNE4 inhibits voltage-gated potassium channel activity, whereas association with KCNE5 allows conduction only under strong and sustained depolarization. KCNQ1 also forms a heterotetramer with KCNQ5, displaying voltage-gated potassium channel activity, and binds phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate. The KCNQ1-KCNE2 channel interacts with the Na(+)-coupled myo-inositol symporter in choroid plexus epithelium, regulating the myo-inositol gradient between blood and cerebrospinal fluid and influencing neuronal excitability (By similarity). It is non-functional alone but acts as a modulator when coexpressed with the full-length isoform 1.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
