KCNK1 Antibody (YA3481) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG2b antibody, targeting to KCNK1. It can be applicated for IHC-P, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

KCNK1 is an ion channel involved in passive transmembrane potassium transport and regulation of the resting membrane potential in brain astrocytes, kidneys, and other tissues. It forms dimeric channels allowing potassium ions to pass following their electrochemical gradient. The channel selectively conducts K(+) at physiological concentrations and neutral pH but becomes permeable to Na(+) under low K(+) or acidic extracellular conditions. Homodimeric KCNK1 exhibits weak inward rectification with low activity in heterologous systems. Its activity is modulated by serotonin receptor activation (By similarity). Heterodimers with KCNK2 show significantly higher activity, likely dominating in astrocytes (By similarity), while those with KCNK3 or KCNK9 also exhibit enhanced function, with KCNK1-KCNK9 potentially contributing to halothane-sensitive currents. In dentate gyrus granule cells, it mediates outward rectifying potassium currents, regulates resting potential (By similarity), and suppresses intrinsic excitability. The KCNK1-KCNK2 heterodimer in astrocytes enables rapid glutamate release upon GPCR (e.g., F2R/CNR1) activation (By similarity). It also supports renal ion/water transport (By similarity) and pancreatic β-cell membrane potential maintenance (By similarity). Homodimer low activity may result from sumoylation or membrane internalization. Cation selectivity follows K(+) > Rb(+) >> NH4(+) >> Cs(+) = Na(+) = Li(+).
