Galectin-9 Antibody (YA5568) is a Mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to Galectin-9.

Galectin-9 is a protein that binds galactosides with high affinity for the Forssman pentasaccharide. It serves as a ligand for HAVCR2/TIM3, inducing death in Th1 lymphocytes upon binding. Additionally, Galectin-9 stimulates bactericidal activity in infected macrophages by activating them and promoting IL1B secretion (by similar). It also acts as a ligand for P4HB, enhancing the migratory ability of Th2 helper T cells (by similar). Interaction with CD44 upregulates FOXP3 expression, improving the function of regulatory T cells (iTreg) (by similar). Galectin-9 enhances the ability of mesenchymal stromal cells to suppress T-cell proliferation and expands regulatory T-cells while inducing cytotoxic T-cell apoptosis post-viral infection. It activates ERK1/2 phosphorylation, leading to cytokine (IL-6, IL-8, IL-12) and chemokine (CCL2) production in mast and dendritic cells while inhibiting mast cell degranulation and inducing their apoptosis. Furthermore, it promotes dendritic cell maturation and migration, suppresses NK cell function, and transforms NK cell phenotype during pregnancy (by similar). Astrocyte-derived Galectin-9 enhances microglial TNF production (by similar). It may also play a role in thymocyte-epithelial interactions and urate transport (by similar). Highly selective for urate (by similar), Galectin-9 acts as an eosinophil chemoattractant and inhibits angiogenesis.
