Description

Galectin-3 Antibody (YA5440) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to Galectin-3. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, ICC/IF, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse.

Background

Galectin-3 is a galactose-specific lectin that binds IgE. It may mediate CSPG4-stimulated endothelial cell migration through interaction with alpha-3, beta-1 integrin. By similarity, Galectin-3 cooperates with DMBT1 to regulate terminal differentiation of columnar epithelial cells during early embryogenesis. In the nucleus, it functions as a pre-mRNA splicing factor. It is involved in acute inflammatory responses, including neutrophil activation/adhesion, monocyte/macrophage chemotaxis, opsonization of apoptotic neutrophils, and mast cell activation. Together with TRIM16, it coordinates membrane damage recognition by mobilizing core autophagy regulators ATG16L1 and BECN1 in response to damaged endomembranes.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
