Description

FEN-1 Antibody (YA5295) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to FEN-1. It can be applicated for WB, IP assays, in the background of human, mouse, rat.

Background

FEN-1 is a structure-specific nuclease with 5'-flap endonuclease and 5'-3' exonuclease activities involved in DNA replication and repair. During DNA replication, it cleaves the 5'-overhanging flap structure generated by displacement synthesis when DNA polymerase encounters the 5'-end of a downstream Okazaki fragment. FEN-1 enters the flap from the 5'-end and tracks to cleave the flap base, leaving a nick for ligation. It also participates in the long patch base excision repair (LP-BER) pathway by cleaving within the apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP) site-terminated flap. As a genome stabilization factor, FEN-1 prevents flaps from equilibrating into structures that lead to duplications and deletions. Additionally, it exhibits 5'-3' exonuclease activity on nicked or gapped double-stranded DNA and RNase H activity. FEN-1 is further involved in the replication and repair of rDNA and mitochondrial DNA.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
