Description

DISC1 Antibody (YA2430) is a Rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to DISC1.

Background

DISC1 is a protein involved in regulating multiple aspects of embryonic and adult neurogenesis. It promotes neural progenitor proliferation in the embryonic ventricular/subventricular zone and the adult hippocampal dentate gyrus (by similar). As a positive regulator of Wnt-mediated neural progenitor proliferation, DISC1 modulates GSK3B activity and CTNNB1 abundance (PubMed:19303846). It also acts as a modulator of the AKT-mTOR signaling pathway, influencing the integration of newborn neurons, including neuron positioning, dendritic development, and synapse formation (by similar). DISC1 inhibits AKT-mTOR signaling activation upon interaction with CCDC88A (by similar). During hippocampal development, it regulates the migration of early-born granule cell precursors toward the dentate gyrus (PubMed:19502360). Additionally, DISC1 inhibits ATF4 transcription factor activity by disrupting ATF4 dimerization and DNA-binding (by similar). Together with PCNT, it plays a role in microtubule network formation (PubMed:18955030).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
