N Cadherin Antibody (YA3848) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to CDH2. It can be applicated for WB, IHC-P, ICC/IF, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse, rat, rabbit, monkey.

CDH2 is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein that preferentially mediates homotypic cell-cell adhesion through dimerization with CDH2 chains from other cells, thereby contributing to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. In the adult subependymal zone, CDH2 regulates neural stem cell quiescence by mediating their anchorage to ependymocytes; cleavage by MMP24 disrupts this anchorage, modulating quiescence. Additionally, CDH2 plays a role in forming cell-to-cell junctions between pancreatic beta cells and neural crest stem (NCS) cells, promoting process formation in NCS cells (By similarity). It is essential for proper neurite branching (By similarity) and pre- and postsynaptic organization (By similarity). CDH2 may participate in neuronal recognition mechanisms and potentially regulates dendritic spine density in hippocampal neurons.
