Its enzymatic activity extends to the prevention of platelet aggregation, as it efficiently hydrolyzes platelet-activating ADP to AMP. Notably, CD39 exhibits equal proficiency in the hydrolysis of both ATP and ADP, emphasizing its versatile role in modulating purinergic signaling pathways and contributing to the intricate regulation of neurotransmission and platelet function.
