Description

CD15 Antibody (YA5366) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to CD15. It can be applicated for IHC-P, ICC/IF assays, in the background of human.

Background

CD15 is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of a fucosyl moiety from GDP-beta-L-fucose via an alpha(1->3) linkage to N-acetyl glucosamine (GlcNAc) within type 2 lactosamine (LacNAc, Gal-beta(1->4)GlcNAc) glycans attached to N- or O-linked glycoproteins. It robustly fucosylates nonsialylated distal LacNAc units to form Lewis X antigen (CD15), a glycan determinant crucial for cellular functions in development and immunity. CD15 also fucosylates sialylated LacNAc acceptors with lower efficiency, generating sialyl Lewis X and 6-sulfo sialyl Lewis X determinants, which serve as recognition epitopes for C-type lectins. Together with FUT7, it contributes to the biosynthesis of SELE, SELL, and SELP selectin ligands, playing a role in selectin-dependent lymphocyte homing, leukocyte migration, and blood leukocyte homeostasis (by similar). In certain cell types, CD15 may additionally fucosylate internal LacNAc units to form VIM-2 antigen, recognized by SELE. However, CD15 does not generate Lewis X antigens.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
