C4A Antibody (YA1505) is a rabbit-derived non-conjugated IgG antibody (Clone NO.: YA1505), targeting C4A, with a predicted molecular weight of 193 kDa (observed band size: 193 kDa). C4A Antibody (YA1505) can be used for WB, IHC-P, FC experiment in human background.

C4A is a precursor of the non-enzymatic components of the classical, lectin, and GZMK complement pathways, which involve a cascade of proteins leading to pathogen phagocytosis, breakdown, and signaling that enhances the adaptive immune system. As a non-enzymatic component of C3 and C5 convertases, C4A is generated after cleavage by complement proteases (C1S, MASP2, or GZMK, depending on the pathway) and covalently attaches to pathogen surfaces, acting as an opsonin to mark antigens for removal. It recruits the serine protease complement C2b to form C3 and C5 convertases, which cleave and activate C3 and C5, respectively, the next components in the complement pathways. The C4b-A isotype effectively binds to immune aggregates or protein antigens via amide bonds, while the C4b-B isotype catalyzes transacylation of the thioester carbonyl group to form ester bonds with carbohydrate antigens. Additionally, C4A is proposed as a humoral mediator released after complement protease cleavage, though its role remains unclear and may be confounded by contamination with C3a and/or C5a anaphylatoxins in assays.
