Description

c-Rel Antibody (YA4798) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to c-Rel. It can be applicated for WB, ICC/IF, ELISA assays, in the background of human, mouse.

Background

c-Rel is a proto-oncogene that may play a role in differentiation and lymphopoiesis. NF-kappa-B is a pleiotropic transcription factor present in almost all cell types and involved in biological processes such as inflammation, immunity, differentiation, cell growth, tumorigenesis, and apoptosis. NF-kappa-B forms homo- or heterodimeric complexes with Rel-like domain-containing proteins RELA/p65, RELB, NFKB1/p105, NFKB1/p50, REL, and NFKB2/p52. These dimers bind to kappa-B sites in the DNA of target genes, with distinct affinities and specificities for different kappa-B sites. Different dimer combinations act as transcriptional activators or repressors. NF-kappa-B activity is regulated by post-translational modifications, subcellular localization, and interactions with cofactors or corepressors. Inactive NF-kappa-B complexes are sequestered in the cytoplasm by NF-kappa-B inhibitor (I-kappa-B) family members. In the canonical activation pathway, I-kappa-B is phosphorylated by I-kappa-B kinases (IKKs) and degraded, releasing the active NF-kappa-B complex for nuclear translocation. The NF-kappa-B heterodimer RELA/p65-c-Rel functions as a transcriptional activator.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
