Description

BRD2 Antibody (YA3910) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG2b antibody, targeting to BRD2. It can be applicated for WB, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human, rat.

Background

BRD2 is a chromatin reader protein that specifically recognizes and binds histone H4 acetylated at Lys-5 and Lys-12 (H4K5ac and H4K12ac, respectively), thereby regulating gene expression and remodeling chromatin structures. It recruits transcription factors and coactivators to target gene sites and activates RNA polymerase II machinery for transcriptional elongation. Additionally, BRD2 plays a key role in genome compartmentalization by associating with CTCF and cohesin: recruited to chromatin by CTCF, it promotes the formation of topologically associating domains (TADs) through its ability to bind acetylated histones, contributing to CTCF boundary formation and enhancer insulation. BRD2 also recognizes and binds acetylated non-histone proteins, such as STAT3, and is involved in inflammatory responses by regulating the differentiation of naive CD4(+) T-cells into Th17 cells. Notably, beyond acetylated lysines, BRD2 binds lysine residues on histones that are both methylated and acetylated (forming N6-acetyl-N6-methyllysine, Kacme), an epigenetic mark of active chromatin associated with increased transcriptional initiation.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
