Description

BMP-2 Antibody (YA3773) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to BMP2. It can be applicated for ICC/IF, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

BMP2 is a growth factor of the TGF-beta superfamily that plays essential roles in various developmental processes, including cardiogenesis, neurogenesis, and osteogenesis. It induces cartilage and bone formation and initiates the canonical BMP signaling cascade by binding to type I receptor BMPR1A and type II receptor BMPR2. Upon complex formation at the cell surface, BMPR2 phosphorylates and activates BMPR1A, which in turn phosphorylates SMAD1/5/8 to regulate target gene transcription. BMP2 also promotes HAMP expression via interaction with BMPR1A/ALK3. Additionally, it signals through non-canonical pathways like the ERK/MAP kinase cascade to regulate osteoblast differentiation and stimulates myoblast-to-osteoblast differentiation via the EIF2AK3-EIF2A-ATF4 pathway. BMP2 acts as a positive regulator of odontoblast differentiation during mesenchymal tooth germ formation, but its expression is repressed during the bell stage by MSX1-mediated inhibition of CTNNB1 signaling (by similar).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
