Description

Anthrax Protective Antigen Antibody (YA5320) is a Mouse-derived and non-conjugated monoclonal antibody, targeting to Anthrax Protective Antigen.

Background

Anthrax Protective Antigen (PA) is one of the three protein components of anthrax toxin, mediating host cell attachment and translocation of edema factor (EF) and lethal factor (LF) into the cytoplasm. PA combined with LF forms lethal toxin (LeTx) causing death upon injection, while its association with EF produces edema toxin (EdTx) inducing edema. PA also confers immunity against anthrax infection. Mechanistically: 1) It binds host receptors ANTXR1/ANTXR2 for cellular attachment; 2) After furin cleavage into PA-63, it oligomerizes to form a pore for EF/LF translocation; 3) The low-pH-triggered conformational change of oligomeric PA-63 from pre-pore to pore state in endosomes facilitates toxin entry. by similar studies indicate clathrin-dependent endocytosis is required, and toxin components must unfold during pore-mediated translocation.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
