Background

Crystallin-αB is a protein that may contribute to the transparency and refractive index of the lens. It exhibits chaperone-like activity, preventing the aggregation of various proteins under a wide range of stress conditions. In lens epithelial cells, Crystallin-αB stabilizes the ATP6V1A protein, protecting it from degradation by the proteasome (By similarity).
