Description

ADAR Antibody (YA4102) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to ADAR. It can be applicated for ICC/IF, FC, ELISA assays, in the background of human.

Background

ADAR catalyzes adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) editing in double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), influencing gene expression through multiple mechanisms: altering protein coding sequences (as inosine is read as guanosine), modulating pre-mRNA splicing, regulating RNA stability, and affecting RNA-structured processes like microRNA biogenesis. It edits both viral (e.g., HCV, HIV-1) and cellular RNAs (e.g., BLCAP, glutamate/serotonin receptors) via site-specific (e.g., GRIA2 R/G site) or hyper-editing modes. ADAR exhibits dual roles in viral infections—pro-viral (enhancing HDV, HIV-1 replication) or antiviral (inhibiting HCV)—through editing-dependent (e.g., HDV amber/W site editing to produce L-HDAg) or independent mechanisms (e.g., suppressing EIF2AK2/PKR for HIV-1). Notably, excessive ADAR activity inhibits HDV replication.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
