Description

Acetyl Coenzyme A Carboxylase Antibody (YA6016) is a Rabbit-derived and non-conjugated IgG monoclonal antibody, targeting to Acetyl Coenzyme A Carboxylase.

Background

ACC-beta (acetyl-CoA carboxylase beta) is a mitochondrial enzyme that plays a central role in fatty acid metabolism by catalyzing the carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA. The reaction occurs in two steps: ATP-dependent carboxylation of biotin on the biotin carboxyl carrier (BCC) domain, followed by transfer of the carboxyl group to acetyl-CoA (PubMed:19236960, PubMed:20457939, PubMed:20952656, PubMed:26976583). The product malonyl-CoA allosterically inhibits carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1, thereby negatively regulating fatty acid oxidation (by similarity). Together with its cytosolic isozyme ACACA, which is involved in de novo fatty acid biosynthesis, it promotes lipid storage (by similarity).

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
