By downregulating the expression of GPX4 in A549 cells, Chaetoglobosin E markedly increases intracellular levels of Fe 2+ and the lipid peroxidation product malondialdehyde (MDA), leading to mitochondrial shrinkage, reduction or disappearance of cristae, and subsequent induction of ferroptosis. Chaetoglobosin E can be used for research in the field of cancer .
