Description

Transcription Initiation Factor IIB Antibody (YA4146) is a mouse-derived and non-conjugated IgG1 antibody, targeting to GTF2B. It can be applicated for WB, ELISA assays, in the background of human, monkey.

Background

GTF2B is a general transcription factor that plays a crucial role in transcription initiation by RNA polymerase II (Pol II). It is involved in the formation of the pre-initiation complex (PIC) and the recruitment of Pol II to promoter DNA. GTF2B, together with the TATA box-bound TBP, forms the core initiation complex and serves as a bridge between TBP and the Pol II-TFIIF complex. It is released from the PIC early during the transition from initiation to elongation and reassociates with TBP in the next transcription cycle. GTF2B binds to two distinct DNA core promoter consensus sequence elements, the IIB-recognition elements (BREs), located upstream (BREu) and downstream (BREd) of the TATA box, in a TBP-independent manner. Additionally, GTF2B exhibits autoacetyltransferase activity, contributing to activated transcription. by similar: GTF2B associates with chromatin at core promoter-specific regions and modulates transcription start site selection.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
