Pain

Pain is a complex, multifaceted symptom arising from injury, disease, or dysfunction in the nervous system, characterized by activation of nociceptors and transmission of sensory and emotional information to the central nervous system. Pain disorders encompass persistent or recurring pain conditions that may involve physical, emotional, or psychological components, including chronic pain syndrome (CPS), psychogenic pain, and neuropathic pain. These disorders manifest through diverse symptoms such as continuous burning or throbbing pain, allodynia, hyperalgesia, swelling, and mood disturbances. Etiologies range from trauma and illness to genetic predisposition and psychological factors, with chronic pain affecting approximately 20% of adults globally and representing a major public health challenge. Classification is based on pain characteristics or anatomical location, including myofascial, musculoskeletal, fibromyalgia, and chronic headache syndromes. Pain agnosia, a rare condition involving loss of pain perception, highlights the critical role of pain in protective function. Genetic factors, such as variants in the HFE gene, are implicated in certain pain disorders, along with involvement of pathways like cardiac conduction and G-beta gamma signaling. The spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion are key affected tissues, and treatments may include medications like ibuprofen and dinoprostone. Comprehensive management requires integrated evaluation of physical, emotional, and neurological aspects.

    Lipopolysaccharides, from E. coli O55:B5
Lipopolysaccharides, from E. coli O55:B5 (LPS, from Escherichia coli (O55:B5)) are endotoxins and TLR4 activators extracted from Escherichia coli (E. coli O55:B5) and are classified as S (smooth) type LPS. Lipopolysaccharides, from E. coli O55:B5 possess the typical three-part structure: O-antigen, core oligosaccharide, and lipid A. Lipopolysaccharides, from E. coli O55:B5 activate TLR-4 in immune cells, exhibit high pyrogenicity, and demonstrate dose and serotype specificity. Lipopolysaccharides, from E. coli O55:B5 can be widely used to induce cellular inflammation and establish animal models related to inflammation.
It is recommended to prepare a solution with concentration ≥2 mg/mL. Vortex thoroughly for more than 10 minutes. Due to the adsorption characteristics of LPS, silanized container or low adsorption centrifuge tubes should be used for aliquoting and storage, and mix thoroughly before use.
